Jackson County, Michigan's Effort to Reduce Pregnancy Rates Among Teens
About Us

The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative has been meeting since November of 2005 to develop a communitywide plan for reducing Jackson County’s teen pregnancy rate.  This group of local teen pregnancy prevention “experts” is known as the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initative Advisory Committee.  The Jackson County Health Department coordinates the initiative in collaboration with the United Way of Jackson County to lead the efforts for teen pregnancy prevention in Jackson County.

The goals of the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative Advisory Committee are to:

  • Coordinate collaboration amongst agencies and individuals with a vested interest in teen pregnancy prevention
  • Conduct parent and community education in neighborhoods with high teen pregnancy rates
  • Promote advocacy in with local school districts and the community at large.

Teen pregnancy is a community health concern with many complexities that requires long-term comprehensive solutions.  The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative is committed to working towards improving the lives of teens in Jackson County.
